What Are the Types of Breast Enhancement Surgery Available?

On average, the breast enhancement surgery will take just about two hours give or take. The physician will usually determine what the best type would be in your case. The doctors will advice whether you need to stay overnight, though there cases where you can be allowed to go home soon thereafter. The most common form of anesthesia is general, though there are times when local anesthesia could be used. All these general issues will be discussed by your physician.

So what exactly happens?

The operation is simple and straight forward. Once you are on the operating table, the doctor will make a cut or incision as they are called in the medical world somewhere in your breast tissue. This will act as the pocket where the implant is going to be placed. Once the implant is in place then the job is done. The remaining bit will be to seal the cut with a few stitches and job done.

The different breast enhancement incision sites

The doctor will want to make the incision as small as it is possible; then the implant is inserted empty then filled with saline thereafter. There are about three typical sites for the incision: under the arm (Axillary), around the nipple (periaroelar), or within the breast fold (inframammary).

• Periareolar: when made around the nipple, this is one of the most discreet incisions in the whole procedure; its only downside is that it makes it difficult to breastfeed if the woman plans to have a child and breastfeed it.
• Inframammary: this is incision is never as hidden as the periaroelar will give easier room for a woman to breastfeed when the need will arise.
• Axillary: this is incision is much more open than the rest and does not necessarily create many challenges when it comes to breastfeeding. The modern surgeon here could use a tiny camera and some very small instruments to create a pocket for the implant.
• Endoscopic/ Umbilical: this happens to be a new incision site and is not used too many times.

The surgeon thereafter has the option of placing the implant subglandular - which means between the breast tissue and the chest muscles or submascular - which means somewhere below the chest muscle. The former makes recovery quite fast and is less painful in case of need for a second operation. The latter enables the implant to last longer and may be more painful in the case there is a repeat job.

Generally, there are enough options on breast enhancement surgery methods to choose from. There may not be one option that is preferable to the other. One will need to way all the available options and with advice of the doctor decide on the best choice to opt for.
