As much as possible we should smell good all the time. It is a definite turn off when one has a body odor and smells stinky. Taking a bath daily and a regular change of clothes are necessary for this. As an additional touch, perfumes and colognes are created to help us smell terrific all day long. Scents are very powerful potions to enthuse someone.

The word perfume comes from a Latin phrase which is translated as “through smoke”. It is said that the ancient Egyptians were the pioneers of this beauty product. They burned scented woods and aromatic plants that exude pleasant odors. Each major civilization had contributed to its refinement and enhancement. Through the years, the use of perfumes has become popular. As we all know, the perfume industry has become a huge and profitable business today.

Almost anything that is natural or synthetic that posses a pleasant odor can be used in the production of perfume. Scents are typically made from flowers, spices, woods, citrus, and even leather at times.

The common thing between fragrances and music is their so called “notes”. Most often perfumes are described by the differing notes that comprise its scent. They are designed to surface at varying times during a fragrance scent span. Similar to that of an orchestra with numerous instruments composing it, scents are also being played like a musical composition. In this case however, it is a chemical proportioning that matters.

Top notes

These are considered to be the strongest of all scents. The drawback is that they do not really last that long. This is the preliminary disintegration of smell coming from a container whenever you take a sniff. Very often, spice or citrus is the base for this note.

Middle Notes

Also known as heart notes mainly make up the most part of the scent coming out after the top notes fade away. This is usually softer and mellower as compared to the initial scent. They are usually floral in nature.

Bass Notes

These are the foundation of the scent and are often musky and deep in nature. They come out to the surface not to replace the middle notes but blend with them instead.

  1. Apply just enough perfume to make a man want to come closer and leaves an impression after you have left his presence.
